Sutter Heritage provides refrigerated storage for funeral homes, hospitals and public agencies. We are not a funeral home, and we do not make funeral arrangements. If your loved one is in our care, the funeral home or agency that has custody is your main contact.
Who to call
If you already chose a funeral home
Call your funeral director. The funeral home arranges storage, transfers and services, and can tell you where your loved one is.
If the death is a coroner case
The county coroner's office has custody until it releases your loved one. Call the coroner's office of the county where the death occurred.
If the death occurred in a hospital
Ask the hospital's patient services or decedent affairs staff. They can explain the next steps and the time you have to choose a funeral home.
